Kathy has tried many cases before judges and juries in South Carolina courts over the last fifteen years. Due to the commitments and needs of her young family, she currently practices from home, and specializes in settlements requiring court approval, such as minor and wrongful death settlements.
After clerking for the Hon. William T. Howell of Walterboro from 1990-1991 while he served on the Circuit Court bench, Kathy joined the Berkeley County Solicitor’s office in 1991, where she tried cases ranging from driving under the influence to criminal sexual conduct. She joined Clawson & Staubes in 1995.
Kathy is married and lives in Mt. Pleasant with her husband Carlton and four children. She is a charter member in a group of mothers who have children with autism, is a co-founder of Camp Learning Fun (a camp for children with autism and typical peers), and serves on the Board of Porter-Gaud school. She enjoys gardening, flower arranging, and writing.
