Jim has practiced law in Charleston, South Carolina with Clawson & Staubes, LLC since March 1986. He has tried numerous cases to jury verdict in both the state and federal courts of South Carolina.
A former classification and compensation analyst for the South Carolina State Personnel Division, Jim received his law degree from Campbell University. He claims his most significant accomplishment there was meeting fellow law school classmate and future wife, Beth Marshall.
Jim grew up in Charlotte, North Carolina, then moved with his family to South Carolina after high school graduation. In South Carolina, he has lived in Myrtle Beach, Columbia, and Charleston.
Jim and Beth are the proud parents of two children, Cole and Sarah.
