Chris Nickels is a member of Clawson and Staubes, LLC and practices in a wide variety of areas including automobile liability, premises liability, dram shop and social host liability, municipal law, and alternative dispute resolution.

Chris was elected to Mount Pleasant Town Council in November 2011. He is the Chair of the Human Resource Committee for the TOMP and former Chair of the Public Services Committee.  He currently serves on the Education, Finance, and Police, Judicial & Legal Committees of Council.

Chris earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Finance & Economics with high distinction. Thereafter, he earned his Juris Doctorate with Honors. In 2006, Chris graduated from the local Chamber’s “Leadership Charleston” program. In 2014, Chris graduated from Clemson’s University Center for Economic Development “Leadership South Carolina” a statewide program designed to develop South Carolina’s emerging leaders to increase the State’s capacity to address issues affecting quality of life.

Chris is married to Kim Nickels. They have three children and a beloved rescue dog. Kim is a Registered Nurse. Their son Eric, just married, is a graduate of the Moody Bible Institute. Daughter Laura graduated from the CofC and MUSC. Their youngest, Katherine, is finishing her third year at Clemson pursuing a BSN degree.

Chris is an active member of Seacoast Church, the Mount Pleasant Business Association and the Daniel Island Business Association. Chris and family love sports and can often be found hanging out at “the Joe” cheering on the Class A affiliate for the New York Yankees, the Charleston Riverdogs  or at the coliseum watching the Stingrays, Charleston’s ECHL hockey team.
