Following law school, Andy relocated to Asheville, North Carolina and began his career as a trial lawyer practicing in the defense of personal injury cases. He has tried cases throughout North Carolina and South Carolina in state, federal and tribal courts. He has also appeared before the United States Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit, the North Carolina Supreme Court, and the North Carolina Court of Appeals. In 2004, Andy joined the Charlotte office of Clawson & Staubes and concentrates his practice in the areas of insurance defense, insurance coverage, and municipal representation.

Andy is a member of the North Carolina State Bar, the South Carolina Bar, and the Mecklenburg County Bar. He is also admitted to the Bar Associations of the United States District Court for all Districts of North Carolina, the United States District Court for South Carolina, the United States Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit, and the Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians. Andy is a member of the North Carolina Association of Defense Attorneys and the North Carolina Bar Association. He is approved as a continuing education instructor by the North Carolina Department of Insurance.

Andy grew up in High Point, North Carolina. He now lives in the Charlotte area with his wife and two children. He enjoys sports, camping and history and is on the Board of Directors of Carolina Waterfowl Rescue.
